Bean Sesame Balls

1.4K
Here’s an easy bean sesame balls recipe that is also a great alternative to traditional falafel. It requires a minimal effort to make and serves as a great lunch/dinner option. Best combined with guacamole, mayo dip and a hot tomato soup. Alternatively, these are great to roll up in a vegan lettuce wrap or add on top of a salad bowl to make your salad heavy.

Equipment

  • pressure cooker
  • oven
  • mixing bowl

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Rajma beans
  • 1/2 cup Brown Chickpea
  • 1/2 cup black beans
  • 2 medium size onions finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil
  • 2 tsp roasted white sesame
  • 1 cup roasted peanuts coarsely ground
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 2-3 green chillies finely chopped
  • 1 inch ginger finely chopped
  • 1 cup fresh coriander leaves chopped
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  • Prepare the beans by soaking them in water overnight.
  • Boil the beans with some salt in pressure cooker for half an hour on medium flame.
  • preheat oven at 200°c.
  • Mash the beans in a mixing bowl and add all other ingredients together to form balls.
  • Line a baking sheet/foil and place the bean balls, brush with some cooking oil, then place inside oven for about 20-30 mins.
  • I served the balls with a quickly mashed avocado and mayo topped with salt and black pepper.
  • Alternatively, you can also use the bean mixture to form patties instead of balls and pan fry.

Notes

Using Tahini (roasted sesame paste) in place of roasted sesame can also add good flavour.
