Equipment

  • mixing bowl
  • flat non stick pan

Ingredients

  • 1 large dory fillet
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp dried mango powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp mustard oil
  • 1 tsp dried parsley for garnish

Instructions

  • Wash the dory fillet under running water and cut into equal pieces on a chopping board.
  • In a small bowl, mix  all above spices along with salt, lemon juice and mustard oil to make a paste.
  • Rub this paste on all sides of fish pieces to marinade well, cover and refrigerate for 30 mins.
  • Heat a non stick pan on medium flame then pan fry each side for 4-5 mins until brown. You don’t need to cover it or add any extra oil in the pan as the marination paste already has oil.
  • Since dory fish is very soft and cooks quickly, avoid flipping it again and again, it might break the pieces.
  • Garnish with parsley and serve hot with mayo/chutney or roasted potatoes, veggies, soup or rice etc.
